Tales,Tales- A4 oil on canvas by Veronica Aldous
Just finished today. I started this as a demonstration for an art class. The canvas was coated with coral coloured acrylic before commencing with oil. I do like the warm undercoat against the oil paint. Sometimes I use cerise or orange! The little folk are running along a path through a cold forest somewhere in France. I was thinking of Fontainbleau as I would love to go there. As they are running they are changing into foxes or maybe they are just wearing costumes like in a Fete Galante.

Stitch and draw

I have been drawing on damp Arches paper and then stitching through and onto silk. The paper smells very oddly of animal size when it is wet-primeval.
This one is 'Mrs Rochester's Daughter.' She didn't have a daughter I don't think as she was denied most things, but this is her lovely dark and light contrejour girl who carries a black sun. She is an atavistic creature, a citizen of the world.
I kind of hate  Mr Rochester so I hope this girl will grow up to disgrace him some more.
